JULIETTE
CARBONNIER
writer//performer//comedian
Juliette Carbonnier (she/her) is a performer, writer, comedian, artist, etc, etc, etc. She was born and raised in New York City, baby!
She mainly writes plays, screenplays, comedy, and poetry, but she’s always open to other ideas.
Juliette graduated from Princeton University in 2024 with a B.A. in English, with certificates in Creative Writing, Music Theater and Theater. For her thesis, Juliette wrote/produced/performed Bodywork, a dark comedy play, under the nourishing guidance of Nathan Davis, Sylvia Khoury and Stacey Wolf. Her thesis won her the Alan S. Downer Prize and the Francis LeMoyne Page Prize. Juliette also wrote Funeral Theatrics, a poetry collection, with Ilya Kaminsky as her radiant adviser. Juliette was the artistic director of Quipfire! Improv Comedy, she wrote comedy skits and songs for Princeton Triangle Club, and she wrote for All-Nighter (Princeton's late night variety show).

Juliette was generously awarded Princeton’s Martin A. Dale ’53 Postgraduate Fellowship for 2024-2025. During this time, wrote Polin, a one-woman dark comedy inspired by her Yiddish comedian ancestors. Polin is about being possessed by and obsessed with the past (featuring original music, clownery, Yiddish nostalgias and, of course, a little bit of shtick). Read more here !
As a wide ranging performer, Juliette does musicals, plays, comedy shows, clown shows, improv shows, and more. Some of her favorite past roles include Sally Bowles in Cabaret, Violet in 9 to 5: The Musical, Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors, and being part of Little Shows About Death with Sam Pinkleton over zoom. Some of her recent original comedic characters include: Guy Who Makes Exertion Noises, Washed Up Shirley Temple, and Child Who Definitely Did NOT Eat Poo (she credits these characters to her time at l’École de Philippe Gaulier).
Juliette currently serves as the Artistic Assistant at the Irish Repertory Theatre. Before that, she taught pre-K and elementary afterschool classes in comedy improv, musical theater, and music at a couple public schools in her neighborhood (including her old elementary school!). She also has experience translating French, creating portraits/illustrations on commission, and working on grassroots local political campaigns (hi Zohran!).
Juliette loves collaborating and working across different mediums and genres of storytelling. She believes wholeheartedly in comedy, especially during tragedy. Ha ha ha! Through her art, Juliette strives to create joy, kindness, creativity, and community (etc, etc, etc).
You made it to the end of the bio?! Rewarding you with a resume and headshots (no, no, I insist).
